Therese’s journey began with a simple passion for flowers and plants. Despite her efforts to find work in a flower shop, luck didn’t favour her. But rather than being disheartened, this challenge became her motivation to start her own business. With a background in administration and clerical work, Therese spent her early career in offices, yet she always felt something was missing. Her true calling came when she ventured into the retail world, where she discovered her love for interacting with customers and creating beautiful shop displays. Her core philosophy is simple but powerful: “love your job, stay trained, and offer products you believe in and I always say if the item wasn’t good enough for a family member then it wouldn’t be good enough for the customer”. Over the last five decades, the floral industry has evolved significantly. Therese recalls the early days when sourcing flowers was a challenge, requiring early morning trips to the Belfast Flower Market. On top of logistical challenges, political instability often made things difficult, with road closures and disruptions. Despite these hurdles, Therese’s commitment to quality never wavered, and this resilience became a cornerstone of her business.
Catering to weddings of all sizes, the business remains as committed as ever to making every bride’s day special. The personal touch is what has always set Designs from Therese apart. Therese takes immense joy in seeing the smiles on brides’ faces when they see their dream flowers come to life.
