You can’t beat a good list to keep your head from spinning, especially when it comes to planning a wedding. This evening we’re sharing a helpful list of wedding flowers that you should consider for your big day, so do you know your corsages’ from your buttonholes?

Bridal Bouquets
Of course, you and your maids will be carrying bouquets, but do you know what shape or size to go for? Your wedding dress will dictate what shape of wedding bouquet you should go for, with some silhouettes suiting some bouquet shapes better than others. For the last few years hand tied bouquets have been clearly the most popular as their shape will match most bridal gowns, but this year we are seeing the unstructured, organic shape take preference.

Flower Girl Flowers
Depending on the age of your little flower girls it can sometimes be too much to expect them to carry a bunch of flowers around all day! In this case a basket of petals or sweet little fairy wand are great alternatives. A pomander is a great look for a classic day. Of course you don’t have to go with florals at all, their favourite teddy bear or sweet patchwork doll will look just as cute.

Buttonholes
You will need to order a buttonhole for every member of the grooms party, as well as the Father of the Bride and Groom. Lots of brides choose a contrasting buttonhole for the groom, just so he stands out that extra little bit. For the big day make sure your groom knows to wear his buttonhole on the left hand side, you could even ask someone to keep an eye out for wonky buttonholes!

Corsages for Mother of the bride & groom
Most MOB and MOG’s now wear a floral corsage around their wrist or on their handbag instead of wearing a buttonhole on the lapel.

Ceremony Arrangements
There are so many areas in your ceremony that can be decorated with flowers, from the church doorway, entrance hall, pew ends and at the altar, you really could go all out and spend a lot of money decorating it! Popular choices for the doorway include an arch of flowers and even creamery cans spilling with beautiful flowers. Think about whether your ceremony flowers can be reused at your reception.

Table Centres
You might have decided to have non-floral table centres because really there are no limits to what you can do! Floral arrangements do look pretty and will help knot your whole theme through from start to finish of your wedding celebration. Your florist will need to know how many tables you have, so make sure you are on the ball with your planning!

Wedding Cake Decor
A simple wedding cake can be transformed with the addition of a posy of flowers. Make sure you tell your florist the exact size of area that needs covered.
Thank You Bouquets
Traditionally thank you bouquets are given out to the Mother of the Bride and Groom during the speeches, but you may also want to give them to others who helped make your day that little bit special. Arrange with your florist how many you will need, so that they are at your reception ready to be delivered.
